The Community and Healthcare Department offers a wide range of well established courses suitable for individuals who wish to pursue a career in the Health and Care industry.
Our Healthcare support has been providing training to those wishing to work as Care Attendants for over 20 years. The progression rates into employment and further study and training from this programme are always high.
Our Childcare programmes are some of the most popular courses offered at DIFE with places each year in high demand. Our graduates progress into the workplace and into further study with a solid foundation in Early Education and Childcare principals. Students can choose to study general Childcare or specialise their studies with Special Needs training. We also offer an advanced Level 6 program which allows our students to gain the additional professional qualifications required to work in a supervisory capacity.
We offer an exceptional programme in Dental Nursing. This programme is validated by the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) and has been formally recognised by the Irish Dental Council; we are proud to say that this recognition has been awarded to only a small number of providers nationwide. Our graduates receive a recognised Diploma in Dental Nursing (NEBDN) which is also recognised in the UK (GDC and IDC).
Our long established Nursing Studies course has been successfully placing students into training colleges for over XX years. Our graduates have progressed to Nursing Training colleges in Ireland and the UK. Students benefit from the experience, expertise and dedication of staff as they develop practical and social skills required for a career in nursing.
The Applied Social Studies programme offers those with an interest in Social Care an intensive introduction to the theory and practical aspects of social studies and social care. The course has excellent progression rates into degree level study each year. Students benefit from the wide range of modules offered by an enthusiastic and highly experience staff as they gain a critical awareness of the way in which society works.
This one year course provides training for those wishing to work as Care Attendants in the community or in hospitals or other institutions, wherever there are people requiring care.
This is a one year full-time Course designed to provide students with the knowledge and qualifications necessary to pursue a career in a childcare setting.
This childcare course will offer additional opportunities for students who wish to specialise in working as a Special Needs Assistant or a Classroom Assistant.
This second year course is designed to provide our advancing students with the qualifications necessary to pursue a career as a supervisor in a childcare setting.
This one year course aims to provide an academic foundation for facilitating entry into Nursing Training: each year our expert Tutors assist students in gaining entry into Nursing Training colleges in Ireland and the UK. Participants also develop the practical, academic and social skills required for a career in nursing.
This one year course is designed to provide an introduction to the theory and practical aspects of social studies and social care. The wide range of modules offered enables students to gain a critical awareness of the way in which society works and to progress to third level study.
Paramedic - Fire and Ambulance:
This course qualifies students for careers in the public service for fire and ambulance personnel. There are also employment opportunities with private ambulance and event support companies. The qualifications gained on completion of this course are internationally recognised. Students can also work as Healthcare Assistants.
